Welcome to My World – Natural Skincare – Help Prevent Aging
Hello World! Hope you’re well! More rain expected here today, & I’m
beginning to feel like I live in Washington state. I need sunshine! Don’t know where the elusive sun has gone these past few days. Today I’m sharing with you about natural skin care that helps to prevent aging.
Effective Yet Natural Skincare Ingredients that Prevent Aging
When it comes to skincare, we often assume that products are either super
effective and totally un-natural, or less effective yet gentle. But in fact, there are lots of very clean ingredients that are fueled by the latest technology and validated by science while still remaining 100% safe & gentle. Gone are the days when our only natural skincare options were homemade sugar masks.
If you’re interested in keeping your beauty routine free of parabens, sulfates, fragrances and other highly toxic ingredients, there are plenty of effective ingredients you can turn to in order to prevent aging. Here are 4 of my favorite ingredients that have been shown in studies to be super-effective, yet don’t have any negative side effects in terms of toxicity or health risks.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance produced by your body that helps
retain moisture and collagen. It’s beneficial not only for protecting collagen stores in the skin, but also throughout the bones and joints. When applied topically, it can really help to boost your skin’s moisture content and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, without any negative health benefits. It’s also helpful for delivering a dose of cooling moisture after you’ve gotten a sunburn. You can find it in natural and conventional beauty products alike.
Face Oils
Face oils are a fantastic tool for creating a barrier between your skin and
the outside air, helping to seal in moisture. On top of trapping water so that it doesn’t evaporate off of your skin, face oils often contain plentiful amounts of natural antioxidants, which are beneficial for fighting free radicals and reducing the speed of skin aging. Not to mention, face oils often small amazing. The trick to making sure your face oil is effective is to pat it into the skin while your skin is still damp. The oil will create a barrier, sealing water into your skin.
AHAs and BHAs
Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) are natural acids found in fruits and fruit
sugars, while beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs) are derived from willow bark and aspirin. Both of these naturally occurring products promise a ton of benefits for beauty when applied to the skin. For one thing, AHAs and BHAs exfoliate the skin by dissolving dead skin cells that can otherwise build up or accumulate in your pores. They dissolve these cells naturally and seamlessly, and you can then simply wash them away with water. This is important, because exfoliating with sugar scrubs, and scrubs or other kinds of physical exfoliants can cause microscopic tears in the skin. Over time, that damage can accelerate aging. AHA- and BHA-based exfoliants remove dead skin cells without damaging your skin.
The second major benefit of AHAs and BHAs is that they increase cell
turnover. This is one of the reasons why they are two of the most effective known ingredients for fighting aging. As we age, our cells turn over at a slower rate than they did when we were young, which is why older people often lack that glowing, fresh complexion that people maintain in their 20s and into their 30s. AHAs and BHAs speed up this turnover using all-natural fruit-based ingredients.
For proof that these ingredients are extremely effective, look no further than non-natural, conventional beauty products. AHAs and BHAs are often used by some of the most expensive brands out there, which is a testament to their effectiveness. Of course, they’re also found in a wide variety of all-natural beauty products as well.
BHAs also boast the benefit of being anti-inflammatory, so they’re often best for people suffering from adult acne or clogged pores. AHAs, meanwhile, are often recommended for people with drier skin.
One word of caution: Too much AHA or BHA use can irritate the skin, causing redness. When starting an AHA or BHA regimen, it’s best to take it slow until your skin can handle regular application.
Body Butters
Body butters are thicker than typical moisturizers, so they’re not
recommended for use on your face unless you have very dry skin. However, they are an anti-aging boon for the rest of your body. Keeping your skin moisture-rich will mean that it stays plump and nourished, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Body butters are often made with shea butter, cocoa butter or coconut oil, making them super rich and creamy. Look for an all-natural body butter without any chemical fragrances.
Just like face oils, body butters should be applied while your skin is still damp in order to help you retain as much moisture as possible. As soon as you step out of the shower, pat your body with a towel until it’s just slightly damp, and then apply your body butter from head to toe.
This is very good information that I wanted to share with everyone, no matter your age, as it talks about what is good for us without having the harmful side effects of chemicals. I hope you enjoy the read. Let me know what you think with a quick comment below…
