Well, it may not be what you think. Since I usually talk about healthy living, I thought it would be interesting to talk about cleaning the toilet –

naturally, of course! Yeah, right, you’re saying – Not an interesting topic! I don’t like doing this any more than you do, but it must be done and since my cats have no interest in helping me … 🙂  And if this is not a part of healthy living, I don’t know what is.

 

I ran across this info and I’ve been doing this for a very long time now so I thought I’d share it…

My Two-Ingredient Toilet Cleaner that WORKS

Conventional toilet cleaners are bad news, but you don’t need harmful chemicals to keep your bathroom clean. Try my 2-ingredient toilet cleaner!  It works for me.

I hate cleaning the bathroom. Hate it. (I totally agree with these sentiments)

The main reason that we budget for a cleaning service is so that I can avoid scrubbing my tile and my toilets. Before we had cleaners, though, this is the all natural DIY toilet cleaner that I used to make cleaning my toilet affordable, safe, and quick and easy.

Why make your own toilet cleaner?

Store-bought toilet cleaning products can run the gamut from pretty safe to very unsafe. Conventional cleaners, use harsh chemicals to break up gunk in your toilet.

DIY Toilet Cleaner Recipe

If you don’t want to spring for pricey, natural toilet cleaners, you can make  your own in seconds. You don’t even have to mix this up in advance. In fact, it won’t work if you do. I call my method The Toilet Volcano, but don’t worry—no funky fluids fly when you use this cleaning mix.

All that you need to clean your toilet are:

• 1/2 cup baking soda
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 

When you go to clean your bathroom:

1. Dump the baking soda & then the white vinegar into the toilet bowl & close the lid.
2. Clean the rest of your bathroom, while the vinegar & baking soda react, science-project-volcano-style.
3. When you’re done cleaning the rest of the room, you can just wipe your bowl with a toilet brush, and flush. The volcano effect loosens up stuck on gunk, so you don’t have to scrub. And you are done! That’s all there is to it.

This recipe is quick and easy, and it’s also safe for septic systems. In fact,

this septic tank company recommends using baking soda & vinegar to clean, saying that it can even help prevent your septic emergencies. I don’t know a lot about septic tanks, but a septic emergency sounds like something you’d want to avoid at all costs.  It is expensive to fix a septic tank. That much I do know from the people I know who have them.

Throw these away immediately if you want to go Natural…!

 

 

P.S. this will probably clean your bathtub as well as other porcelain surfaces…
