Welcome to My World – Yoga – Reduce Stress & Relax
Hello World! Today I’m sharing some good yoga poses (beginner & intermediate) to help you reduce stress and learn to relax. Most of these aren’t too difficult so give them a try… Enjoy!
Yoga Poses to Help Stop Stress
Stress can feel so all-consuming, can’t it? There are so many reasons why we feel stressed and whether you’re in crisis mode or you’re just coping with a lot of background stress, finding natural ways to relieve that pressure can be difficult. Usually when you’re stressed, spare time is at a premium, so dropping everything to do a series of yoga poses is probably not high on your to-do list.
The great thing about the yoga poses below is that you can do just one or two—or you can do the whole series of 10 moves—to feel a difference.
You don’t have to be a yogi to get some of yoga’s stress-busting benefits.
There are yoga poses on this list suitable for beginners and more intermediate postures, so you can pick and choose the pose or poses that feel most relaxing to you.
Yoga Poses for Stress
Child’s Pose
What’s more soothing than this relaxation pose?
Extended Puppy Pose
My back feels less tense just thinking about it!
Dolphin Pose
Dolphin is a bit more strenuous and great for getting that angst out of your system.
Cobra Pose
That stretch in your chest and belly is a wonderful release for pent up tension.
Standing Forward Bend
I love just hanging out in forward bend! If you can keep your balance, it’s extra nice to close your eyes in this posture.
Plow Pose
I like transitioning into this pose from Shoulder Stand. The inversion really gives you a new perspective, and this pair of poses is just strenuous enough to help blow off some steam.
Triangle Pose
Another good stretch for your chest, this one helps release tension along the sides of your body, too!
Easy Pose
Sitting up straight and focusing on your breath is such a nice break from worrying about real life!
Cat and Cow Poses
I like cycling between these two postures, doing cow on the inhale and cat on the exhale. So relaxing
Seated Twist
Talk about releasing tension! This stretches so many of the places where we store stress – your shoulders, spine, neck, and chest!
I hope you’ll give some of these yoga poses a try and then you can tell me what you think of them, and which ones you tried. Does anyone do yoga for relaxation and de-stressing? I do some yoga as it is also great for stretching your body, and I definitely find it relaxing. It gives me the chance to stop thinking about day to day “stuff” that stresses me out. In a way, it is my “mindless” therapy on the floor… 🙂
Have a great day!
